I finally got to see my friend Tanya for the first time in a year and a half! We went to a Micky's, gay bar in Hollywood on the evening of the 22nd after going to a lame bar next door first. There were drinks and dancers and music and earlier there were even drag queens singing on stage! It was a novel experience for us, and a ton of fun.

I asked Tanya for a drink suggestion, and she said I should get a Sex On The Beach. I felt like I was propositioning the (shirtless) bartender when I asked for one. Tanya asked the bartender to make her a surprise drink and wound up with a tasty mango-something cocktail.

When we finished our drinks, we hit the dance floor to let loose and have fun. Around 1am, I discovered that one of "teh gays" had stolen my phone. Oh well, I hated that damn thing anyway. It was a stupid LG Chocolate that was already 3 1/2 years old. My dad was too cheap to get me a phone in the last year and a half, so this made it happen (though it took nearly a week, more on that later). Thanks guys! One of the great things about gay bars -- hardly anyone hit on us or tried to take us home all night (that happened the last time we went clubbing together: some guy latched onto me at the beginning of the night and kept asking me to go home with him -- creepy much?). That was awesome because we just wanted to have fun and relax and enjoy the eye candy and not have to deal with stupid guys trying to get randomly laid. Gay bars are apparently the place for straight girls!

Tanya and I got to Disneyland at 8am on the 23rd. Dan's sister Sandy had arranged for her friend Sharon to use one of her employee passes to get us into Disneyland and California Adventure for free. We had a lot of fun and got to do almost everything we wanted in both parks, except for the DCA roller coaster (closed), Fantasmic (closed until the next weekend), and the fireworks (canceled due to winds).

(waiting for Sharon at the compass)

Tanya freaked out on the free moving ferris wheel carriage. I had fun laughing at her.

Tanya got a chipmunk kiss from Chip! I'm jealous. What the heck, Dale??

The Hollywood Tower of Terror went something like this:
Tanya: Is it scary? Me: It's fun -- scary-fun. Tanya: I don't want to go. Me: You don't have to. Tanya: I don't want to. Me: You don't have to.
Tanya: Okay, let's go. Me: Okay. Tanya: AAAAAAAHHH!!!!!!!!!

We really liked the teacups, but I think that was mostly because of the pretty colors.

We had to leave early (before closing) because I had work at 8am the next morning and still had to drive an hour to drop Tanya off in LA and then drive another hour to get home.

*Tanya and I have called each other "Wife" since high school. Whenever one of us felt trapped by a guy or were just bored in general, we would run off and "elope." She was my best friend for awhile, but we've kind of lost touch since going to college. This weekend was a reunion of sorts. We really need to see each other more than once a year or so. I miss her again already!
