Who here knew men's briefs come in a "bikini style?" Yeah, neither did I. Dan now has several pairs. XD

yaaaaay I figured out how to fix the stupid clock on my computer. It was set to a 24 hour military style clock, which is ANNOYING. It's now set to the good ol' 12 hour AM/PM setup. I am beyond happy. Yes, I really am that easy to please.

I've been reading a bunch of Wikipedia articles to keep me entertained that past few days. It's mostly been about Henry VIII and his six wives moving on to his children next. Does anyone have any suggestions for what to move on to next, either on Wikipedia or some other site? Also, I am entirely open to movie and show suggestions. Bonus points if it's available on Netflix instant view or located elsewhere online for free. I have entirely too much time on my hands and get sad when I have nothing to do.

Actual post to come soon.

Ah, Henry VIII. Now that's some interesting history right there. And of course, the subsequent stories about his kids. Tudor England in general really.

I'm a Wikipedia junkie (largely due to being a history junkie) soo I'd recommend:
- The Crusades. They make for an interesting read.
- Roman Emperors. There were some crazy fellows that ended up in charge of the empire. My personal favorite is the one who named his horse to the Senate...(not kidding lol)
- Mythologies. They're all nicely linked up so you can do instant comparisons to other related stories.
- and this list could go on lol. If you want any further recommendations, let me know. I've got plenty.

I don't know too much about them, so I will definitely look into the crusades. My dad and I had a fight about them years ago, so we'll see who was right!

Caligula?? I LOVE reading about Rome and the emperors. You should get Twelve Caesars by Suetonius if you want to hear some craaaaazy things about the first twelve caesars (they think it's mostly rumors, not necessarily fact, but still!). I read parts of it for my Roman History class last year. Also, I have books on Hadrian and Augustus on my wishlist for Christmas, so =D

I also have a ton of Greek mythology books from my three Classics courses two years ago. I need to find some resources for Egyptian and possibly Norse mythology, too (among others)... any suggestions?

(I love how you mentioned two of my favorite topics: Rome/Roman emperors and mythology!)

Lol I actually got into an argument about the crusades with one of my good friends not long ago. Which of course devolved into an argument about warfare and papal corruption during the period and well...it's just never good for the two of us to get into arguments. They tend to go on forever lol.

Hey bring on the rumors lol. I love me some Roman history *makes note to go hunt down that book*

Ooh Greek is lovely stuff. I need more of those books lol. Let's see Norse...I just picked up a new one that's got a lot of the sagas translated into English. I'll see if I can find it. I literally have a book on just Egyptian mythology...and I also have a copy of the Book of the Dead lol. I'm a slight Irish mythology binge, so I've picked up a few books on Irish myths and legends that I'd highly recommend. Also I've got one that's called Parallel Mythology, and it lines up similar world mythologies by section. So for instance, all the creation myths are in a section, and it has myths from Egpyt, Japan, Babylon, Greece, the Native Americans, etc. Such a cool book. I love it. And I'll look for the titles on those others. One is "Irish Myths and Legends" and I think the other might be "Irish Fairy Tales" (the title is deceptively simple lol)

(Those are two of my favorite topics too! XD Works out perfectly)

I'd probably be (re)reading that book right now, but my mom has it!

Do you happen to know of any good sites on mythologies? I'm kind of strapped for cash right now (darn unemployment!), so it would be hard on me to go out and buy books.

XD

Most totally - pantheon.org has the Encyclopedia Mythica, which I've found endlessly handy. And then of course the respective wikipedia articles for each individual mythology.
